While Pixelmator lacks Adobe Photoshop's breadth of professional-level tools, it is still a solid choice for your day-to-day image-editing tasks on the Mac. If you reduce its opacity, you can see where to place it and size it to cover the Photo1 with some margin to spare. The Shape should match the Background colour. Gloomy interface: The tool's interface is dark, and while some might say it looks striking, with a similar feel to Apple's Photos app for OS X, the look can also start to feel dreary. In Tools, select Shape Tool and drag a rectangle over the Photo1 (This will be in a new layer). Through iCloud, you can edit and sync images with the OS X and iOS Pixelmator apps. Layers: Pixelmator handles layers and lets you duplicate, delete, rename, and hide layers.Ĭolor correction: You can choose to auto-enhance an image or fine-tune it with a collection of color-correction tools.Ĭompanion iPad and iPhone apps: Pixelmator is available on OS X and also iOS. The tool also supports Adobe Photoshop brushes. Painting and drawing: You have lots of control over brushes and can set size, opacity, and angle, for example. You can now browse through all the effects and filters at once. To show all the effects available click on the pull down menu in the Effects Browser and choose All Effects. If you don't see the effects browser, make it visible by going to View > Show Effects or by pressing Command-3. Wide range of effects: Pixelmator offers a broad collection of selection and effects tools, from blur and distortion to sharpening and retouching. Make sure the Effects Browser is visible. Unless you require industrial-strength capabilities, Pixelmator should meet your requirements. Pixelmator provides most of the photo-editing tools you would need for personal use.
